Phil Conway

Chair

Since 1973, Mr. Nahmad has served as board chair and CEO of Watsco, Inc., an NYSE company based in Coconut Grove. At the beginning of his tenure, Watsco had revenues of $5 million and a market capitalization of less than $5 million. Under his strategic leadership, Watsco has become the largest distributor of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration products with revenues of over $4.5 billion and a market capitalization of nearly $7 billion.

Watsco’s success has been achieved with a conservative, long-term focus and an entrepreneurial spirit. The company operates from 568 locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico and also serves markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. He holds an M.S. in Industrial Administration from Purdue University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He maintains an active role in a number of charitable organizations in South Florida.

Phil Conway is managing director and U.S. southeast region head of J.P. Morgan Private Bank. He oversees the firm's private banking business throughout the southeastern United States and Puerto Rico and served as its head of capital advisory for the United States and Europe.

Mr. Conway serves on Baptist Health Medical Group's Board of Directors, as well as the Baptist Health Community Benefit Committee. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La., and holds an MBA from Louisiana State University. Mr. Conway serves on the boards of the Perez Art Museum Miami, Houston Salvation Army (past chairman), University of Texas Health Science Center (past chairman), United Way of Dallas, Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Richardson YMCA, North Texas Commission and the Southwest Louisiana March of Dimes.

Ron Shuffield, treasurer of Miami Cancer Institute's Board of Directors, also serves as vice chair of the boards of Baptist Health Enterprises and Baptist Health Outpatient Services, secretary of the Doctors Hospital Board of Directors and a member of the Baptist Health Board of Trustees. He sits on the Baptist Health Long-range Planning and Facilities committees, as well as the executive committees for Baptist Health Enterprises, Baptist Outpatient Services and Doctors Hospital.

Mr. Shuffield is president of EWM Realty International, a real estate brokerage firm. He sits on the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce board of directors, is a founding board member of the Beacon Council, a member of the Coral Gables Rotary Club and past chairman of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and Coral Gables Community Foundation. He is the recipient of the Robert B. Knight Outstanding Citizen Award, and the Florida Council on Economic Education inducted Mr. Shuffield into the South Florida Business Hall of Fame in 2003.

Currently, he is on the board of directors of Florida International University Foundation, and since 1976 has been a member of University Baptist Church of Coral Gables, where he is a past chairman of deacons.​
