Caring for little heroes. It takes a special team of people to understand the special needs of children. Baptist Health South Florida Pediatrics brings compassion and the most-advanced technologies and well-rounded treatment to provide the best care for our youngest patients.
Our donors give our little heroes the best gift they could receive – the chance at a healthy childhood and bright future. They partner with us to improve care, make recoveries easier and ensure psychosocial support for children and their families. Supporting our pediatric services also means giving hope and comfort to the parents of all our young patients – whether they need specialized cancer care or proper casting of a fractured arm.
More than 200 pediatricians and 100 pediatric subspecialists include leading physicians who provide expert treatment in nearly every field:
- Pediatric Emergency
- Pediatric Oncology
- Pediatric Orthopedics
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Pediatric Neurosurgery
Our Pediatric Oncology Services are accredited with commendation, the highest accolade given to a cancer program, by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. With construction of the $430 million, state-of-the-art Miami Cancer Institute on the Baptist Hospital campus, our pediatric cancer services will expand significantly. Opening in 2016, the new facility will be the only one of its kind in the region, featuring outpatient clinical services, a dedicated cancer research facility and signature technology platforms, including the first proton therapy center in South Florida. Proton therapy is often the treatment of choice for children with serious cancers.
We understand that complex illnesses can affect many different functions in growing bodies, so our specialists work together to develop specific treatment plans for individual patients. Our multidisciplinary Pediatric Advanced Care Team is made up of dedicated specialists trained to care for children with cancer and other complex illnesses. The team includes pediatric oncologists, surgeons, pediatric oncology nurses, pediatric neurosurgeons, dietitians, psychologists, pastoral care counselors and child life specialists.
Our approach is family-centered, particularly in treating complex illnesses, and we involve families as our care partners from the beginning. Our team supports children and their families at every point in their journey toward health and well-being.
We are always working toward improving the delivery of pediatric services as we embrace advances in medical technology while maintaining the human touch.
