Like all generous donors to Baptist Health Foundation, those who support Baptist Health Neuroscience Center at Baptist Hospital are making a thoughtful investment in the future of healthcare. They are givers who have the foresight to concentrate their resources on advancements in treatment and care of conditions affecting the brain and nervous system.
Baptist Health Neuroscience Center focuses on the diagnosis and advanced, innovative treatment of complex conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system – including epilepsy, stroke and brain tumors. Also part of the Neuroscience Center is the Baptist Center for Spine Care, which provides comprehensive individualized care for back and neck pain.
Our staff of experts shares the Center’s philosophy – to provide the most effective care with the least invasive treatment. The Center’s wide range of specialists include neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and interventional neuroradiologists acclaimed for their clinical and educational expertise, as well as specially trained nurses and clinical professionals.
Our commitment includes targeting specific healthcare needs that affect our community and our world with comprehensive services and advances in care. For example, stroke remains one of the nation’s leading causes of death, and we not only offer the latest technology to treat strokes but we strive to educate people about this all-too-common traumatic event before it happens to a family member, friend or themselves.
Baptist Hospital is the only Florida hospital recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures in stroke care. The hospital, in partnership with Baptist Health Neuroscience Center, is the only one in South Florida certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. This is the nation’s highest level of stroke accreditation. We also treat more stroke patients than any other South Florida hospital, providing lifesaving treatment and advanced medical services that aid recovery.
The Center’s Epilepsy Program received a Level 3 designation, from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, for its capability to provide advanced care for patients with complex epilepsy.
With the ongoing need to expand care capacity and increase access to more advanced technologies, the Center offers many opportunities for giving. To better meet the needs of our community, we are expanding the treatment capacity of the Neuroscience Center.
The $100 million expansion project at Baptist Hospital will include six new, state-of-the-art operating suites and the first intraoperative MRI for brain surgery south of Orlando, Florida. The MRI will significantly improve surgical treatment of brain tumors, providing real-time images of the brain during surgery.
