Sleep Studies

Sleep Studies

During your sleep study, you will stay overnight in a hotel-like private room within our Sleep Diagnostic Center. You may be scheduled for a daytime or nighttime study, depending on your normal sleep pattern and your physician’s orders. The study is a noninvasive, painless procedure during which sensors are placed on your skin to monitor your brain waves, heart rate, and eye, chin and leg movements. The technologist will also monitor your breathing effort, air flow and blood oxygen level. The sensors will be removed using soap, water and sometimes adhesive remover. All products used at our facility are state-of-the-art and carefully monitored for patient safety and comfort.

You will be awakened at 6 a.m. unless you have arranged an alternate wake-up time with the technologist. After the test is complete, a physician who specializes in sleep diagnostics will read the results and determine whether you have a sleep disorder. You should then make an appointment to see your physician two weeks after your study to discuss the test results and the various treatments that are available.

Testing and treatment of sleep disorders are often covered by insurance. We encourage you to discuss this with your health plan representative.
