South Miami Hospital’s Center for Women & Infants – a one-stop hospital within a hospital – offers more than just a comprehensive array of services. We’re here to make satisfying your healthcare needs more convenient.

Before you even begin using our health services, you’ll experience the convenience and personalized service of the Center for Women & Infants.

Our Patient Care Navigator – a free service that we provide to all the Center’s patients – is your personal healthcare guide. She will always be on hand to direct you to diagnostic and treatment services, support groups and other local resources. If you have questions about your care or your appointments, she will help you find answers and locate the physicians who fit your needs.

The Center for Women & Infants provides:

  • Maternity services, parent education classes, infertility treatment and reproductive medicine, and specialized care for high-risk pregnancies.
  • Fetal Special Care for unborn babies, including fetal blood transfusions to correct Rh incompatibility and diagnostic tests such as ultrasound and fetal MRI to detect congenital disorders.
  • Level II and III neonatal intensive care units with highly specialized medical personnel, including neonatal transport and surgical teams, to care for premature or sick newborns.
  • Minimally invasive gynecological surgery to treat cancer – and benign conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis and pelvic floor prolapse – performed by leading surgeons, many of whom use robotic technology to make smaller incisions and promote less scaring, less pain and faster recovery.
  • A specialized program to treat uterine fibroids.
  • Diagnostic testing, including digital mammography, MRI, PET/CT, ultrasound, X-ray, coronary artery imaging and bone density testing.
  • Breast cancer surgery, breast reconstruction and radiation to treat different types of cancer.
  • Urodynamics lab to diagnose and treat problems with the bladder.
  • Women’s healthy lifestyle services, including a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence-designated surgical weight-loss programas well as cosmetic surgery.
  • Our Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Center allows parents to donate for free their newborn’s umbilical cord blood to be used worldwide to treat more than 70 diseases of the blood, including leukemia and sickle cell anemia.
  • Child Development Center to evaluate and treat infants and children as they grow and develop.
  • Clinical Trials and Research​ at the Center for Women & Infants.     South Miami Hospital's Center for Women & Infants is accredited as a Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG) by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), the leading association promoting minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery among surgeons worldwide. The COEMIG designation recognizes surgeons, hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers around the world that provide minimally-invasive gynecologic surgical care on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Facilities designated as Centers of Excellence are recognized for having the most effective diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and providing less invasive treatments for gynecologic conditions through the integration of clinical practice, research and innovation.
