Speech Therapy

Mariners Hospital Rehabilitation Center offers one-on-one therapies to help with impaired speech due to physical or neurological changes or other complications causing difficulty with cognition and communication. We also offer therapy for swallowing dysfunctions.

We are the only hospital-based outpatient speech-language pathology facility in the Keys. Services are available for children, adolescents and adults.

Available Therapy

Our certified speech and language pathologist will complete a comprehensive evaluation and develop a personalized treatment plan that will increase your ability to communicate or eat safely. Your progress will be measured on an ongoing basis, and changes will be made as needed to your plan of treatment to ensure the best possible outcome.

Examples of issues we handle include:

  • A pre-school child with delayed language development
  • An elementary school student with an articulation disorder
  • A high school student with cognitive communication deficit, due to concussion
  • A stroke victim unable to understand or express spoken language
  • A patient with head and neck cancer who has swallowing issues

  • We also offer audiological screenings in which the speech-language pathologist performs a short screening to determine if a full audiological assessment is needed.
