If you’re not getting enough good quality sleep every night, you can experience many different problems when you’re awake.

Instead of tossing and turning, take action and seek the expert diagnosis of your sleep problem from a Mariners Hospital Board-Certified sleep specialist physician. Mariners Hospital has the only Joint Commission-accredited Sleep Center in The Keys. The Joint Commission is a national organization that only accredits healthcare organizations that meet stringent quality and safety standards.

How do you know if you have Sleep Apnea?

Do you have:

  • Excessive loud snoring
  • Restless sleep
  • Severe morning headaches, dry mouth or sore throate
  • Reduced alertness
  • Awakening with choking, gasping or smothering
  • Waking frequently to urinate
  • Daytime fatigue
  • Lack of energy or excessive sleepiness despite getting an adequate amount of sleep (usually 7-8 hours) at night
  • Poor concentration
  • Forgetfulness
  • Mood changes

  • We’re here to diagnose many people who need help sleeping, including patients with sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and periodic leg movement syndrome.

We might recommend you stay with us overnight for a polysomnography – a test done while you’re sleeping that measures brain waves, heartbeat and oxygen levels. We’ll also observe your eye movements, muscle tension, leg movements, and how you breathe while you sleep.  All to help determine the diagnosis behind your individual sleep problem.

In terms of treatment, we’re proud to offer CPAP or continuous positive airway pressure treatments. For the appropriate patient, CPAP can help keep your airway open and optimize the amount of oxygen you breathe in during sleep.
