If you and your medical oncologist decide that chemotherapy is the best course of treatment for your type of cancer, you can choose to receive your chemotherapy at Mariners Hospital Oncology Services department. This outpatient department is located in Suite 105, on the ground floor of the Tassell Medical Building, located on the Mariners Hospital campus, MM 91.5, Tavernier, Florida.

We recognize that you and your cancer are unique. Therefore, your chemotherapy treatment will be customized to your cancer type and treatment needs. Your medication is mixed according to your oncologist’s orders in our on-site pharmacy. It is important for you to know that all chemotherapy orders must come from Baptist Health's Miami Cancer Institute oncologists credentialed at Mariners Hospital.

In addition to chemotherapy infusions and injections, our Oncology Services department provides blood transfusions, lab draws, port access and flushes, and chemotherapy education.

Based on our commitment to personalized care, we designed our oncology services suite with your comfort in mind. Your private treatment room has a flat-screen TV and DVD player, which you can use to view a personal DVD. We also have Wi-Fi and iPads available for your use. A pharmacist, nutritionist and social worker are available to answer questions you may have for them.

A nurse is always present during your treatment. Our team of registered nurses has been trained by the Oncology Nursing Society in the most up-to-date chemotherapy and biotherapy administration procedures and types of chemotherapy. They also have taken classes in symptom management and follow rigorous standards in administering chemo and closely monitoring you for side effects.

Mariners also offers other services for our patients with cancer. For example, speech therapy is available for patients with swallowing problems resulting from head and neck cancer.

We also hold a cancer support group meeting the third Thursday of each month in the Mariners Hospital main conference room. For information about the support group, call 305-434-3100.
