Maternity

For Your Comfort
Having a baby is one of the most important experiences of your life. At Homestead Hospital, we want it to be one of the nicest, too. We've designed our Birthing Suites with all the comforts of home, and all the safety and security of a modern, technologically advanced hospital unit.

For Your Care
For Your Care Natural childbirth occurs in your own private birthing suite. When necessary, Cesarean births take place in an operating room conveniently located on the maternity floor. All of our nurses are experienced in labor and delivery, newborn nursery and postpartum care. Each nurse is trained in fetal monitoring and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation. In addition:

  • Anesthesiologists are available 24/7 to administer anesthesia during Cesarean births or to provide epidural anesthesia for labor pain (if requested).
  • Neonatologists are readily available should your baby require special, intensive medical care.
  • OB/GYN hospitalists – qualified physicians who can examine patients, evaluate the progress of labor and provide a safe delivery – enhance the safety and care of expectant mothers and their babies. If an emergency occurs, the hospitalist is already on the scene, ready to respond with lifesaving intervention. The hospitalist is able to manage a patient’s labor until her OB/GYN arrives, or in the event that her doctor is unable to make it in time for her delivery. They respect each family’s birth plan and work in collaboration with the patients’ OB/GYNs, who remain in charge of their care.

  • For Your Safety
Having a Mother and infant security is a top priority. Visitor access to the unit is closely monitored. All newborns have computerized identification bracelets that track their locations at all times.
