Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

 

The Outpatient Rehabilitation Center is conveniently located in the Baptist Medical Arts Building. Our facility encompasses 22,000 square feet of state of the art equipment. The West tower has the Neurological and General Rehabilitation program and the East tower is specially designed for Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Rehabilitation.

Amputee Program
Provides the amputee patient with therapeutic intervention throughout their entire rehabilitation. It begins with the basic rehabilitative phase, which concentrates on exercises, pre-prosthetic training and overall independence in daily activities. It progresses to assisting in fitting and ultimately training in ambulation with the prosthetics. Returning to an active life and normal daily and recreational activities is our ultimate goal. Our program also provides a monthly follow up Prosthetic and Orthotics Clinic in which physiatrists, prothetists and therapists all address the patient's needs.

 

Disabled Driver’s Education and Training
Offers evaluation and training to individuals with disabilities to help develop safe driving skills, whether they are a first time driver or an experienced driver. The program utilizes a specially equipped car for behind the wheel training and is administered by therapists who are certified in Basic Driver Education and Traffic Safety. The patient is required to have a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit.

Hand Therapy Program
This program is designed to maximize the combined efforts of the hand surgeon, therapists and you the patient. Our experienced occupational and physical therapists with extensive post-graduate training in the rehabilitation of the hand and arms. We design post-operative exercise programs and fabricate customized splints.

Intensive Outpatient Brain Injury Program
This program helps patients re-join their families, work force and return to daily activities. It benefits patients that require a highly structured therapeutic setting during the day, but are able to return home in the afternoon after they have completed their therapy program. The brain injury rehabilitation team has specialized training in the areas of cognitive rehabilitation, behavior management and neuro-developmental techniques. Emphasis is given to high level activities with the ultimate goal of returning the patient to their highest level of independence and previous activities such as school and/or gainful employment.

Lymphedema Program
Patient's referred to the program are treated with Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Physical Therapy. This is a non-invasive, painless and highly effective treatment in the management of Lymphedema and other edematous conditions.

Neurological Rehabilitation
This program offers a complete range of therapeutic services to individuals with physical and/or cognitive disabilities including: stroke, brain injury, other neurological conditions, amputations, and other debilitating conditions. Our team of professionals has the specialized training and expertise needed to help restore each patient to their highest level of function and independence.

Family participation and training is an integral part of our program.
Services are provided Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Rehabilitation
This program offers rehabilitation services for a wide range of orthopedic injuries, neck and low back disorders and joint replacements, as well as treatment of athletes of all levels, from the weekend warrior to the professional athlete. Treatment is provided by a team of licensed physical and occupational therapist in a state of the art facility. These rehabilitation professionals have developed extensive expertise through post professional education/training and specialized certifications. Their goal is to create a specific treatment plan for each one of the patients that helps him or her return to maximum function.

In order to accommodate our patients scheduling needs the center is open;
Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m., and on Friday, 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. 

Outpatient Post Discharge Programs
Designed for groups of patients who have completed a formal therapy program and need an exercise program in order to maintain their optimum level of function. Exercise is provided in an informal, relaxed atmosphere. The program includes the following activities: warm-up, stretching, strengthening, postural exercises, and use of fitness equipment, cool down and relaxation. Pool classes are also available.

Pediatric Rehabilitation
Pediatric Rehabilitation Services are offered at the Child Development Center, which serves infants and children to age 12 at our new 5,000-square-foot pediatric facility located at 9035 Sunset Drive.

The center offers a complete range of therapeutic services. Our team of professionals has the specialized training and expertise needed to help children obtain the most benefit possible from their rehabilitation experience. Family participation and training is an integral part of our program.

Our staff treats a full spectrum of pediatric conditions, such as; Developmental and Motor Delays, Speech and Language Delays, Neurological Conditions, Premature babies, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism / PDD, Brachial Plexus Injuries, Torticolis, Stuttering, Congenital Disorders, Feeding and Swallowing Disorders. Our staff has specialized training and/or certifications in: NDT (Neurodevelopmental Treatment), Torticollis, Aquatic Therapy, Feeding and Swallowing Disorders, and Stuttering Therapy.

The Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday; and 8 a.m.-noon, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday.

Sports Injury Rehabilitation
This program is designated to treat athletes of all levels, from the weekend warrior to the professional athlete. Our experienced staff will develop a personalized rehabilitation program to fit the individual’s athletic needs. The sports care team will provide pre- and post-surgical care to expedite the patient’s recovery.

Therapeutic Pool
A 15 x 30 therapeutic indoor heated pool provides the setting for the latest techniques in aquatic therapy for children and adults. The properties of buoyancy, turbulence, heat and relaxation offered by water enable one not only to move with greater freedom, but may also make it possible to execute movement which would be impossible on land. A very diverse population of clients both adult and children benefit from Aquatic Therapy. We offer individual and group sessions that are supervised by qualified therapists.

Vestibular Rehabilitation
This exciting and successful new treatment program is designed for patients who have symptoms of dizziness that interfere with their daily activities. Physical therapy sessions usually include a variety of special vestibular maneuvers and exercise techniques.

Vision Program
This program offers training for both the low vision client and the patient suffering from visual limitations as a result of a stroke or brain injury. Occupational therapists instruct clients on visual exercises and on various strategies to assist the individual to actively participate in their activities of daily living.
