Diagnostic Imaging

The ability to "see" inside the body using various imaging techniques is a necessary component of diagnosis and treatment of injury and illness. The Imaging Services Department at Baptist Hospital offers a wide range of testing, such as X-ray, computerized tomography (CT) scan, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Our Molecular Imaging Department provides Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging services.  Nuclear SPECT imaging gives a three-dimensional image and provides more detail about the organ or area being scanned.  Baptist Hospital has the only SPECT/ CT and dedicated 64 slice PET/CT capabilities in the health system.  This technology provides advanced imaging capabilities for our general, cardiology and oncology patients.

Additionally, our MRI department has one 1.5 Tesla and two 3.0 Tesla MRI scanners. We have wide bore capability and a satellite radio sound system, to help our patients feel as comfortable as possible.  We offer the only fMRI (functional MRI) program in Dade County.  This equipment gives us the ability to provide a wide range of orthopedic, neurological and abdominal and cardiovascular procedures.
