Steven Tyrone Vassil, DO

Steven Vassil, D.O., is a board-certified family medicine physician at Baptist Health Primary Care. He provides comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, with clinical interests in preventive medicine, lifestyle optimization and chronic disease management. Dr. Vassil is committed to developing long-term relationships with his patients through evidence-based outpatient care and helping them achieve better health through prevention and healthy lifestyle choices.

Before joining Baptist Health, Dr. Vassil completed his family medicine residency at the Baptist Health South Florida–Florida International University Family Medicine Residency Program. During his residency, he cared for a diverse patient population, supervised medical students through Florida International University's NeighborhoodHELP Program and regularly cared for Spanish-speaking patients. Earlier in his career, he worked as a project manager and emergency department scribe with ScribeAmerica. Dr. Vassil earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine in Clearwater, Fla. He also earned a bachelor's degree in neuroscience and behavior, graduating cum laude from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla. He completed his family medicine residency at the Baptist Health South Florida–Florida International University Family Medicine Residency Program in Miami. Dr. Vassil is board-certified in family medicine. He has served in leadership roles with the Graduate Medical Education Committee and House Staff Advisory Committee and previously served as student director for the Florida Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Vassil strives to build lasting relationships with his patients through trust, empathy and education. He combines evidence-based medicine with individualized care, emphasizing prevention, lifestyle optimization and shared decision-making to help patients live healthier lives.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Vassil enjoys spending time with his family, strength training, running, cooking, improving his golf game and cheering on the Florida Panthers.
