Sandra Valencia is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. She specializes in treating patients with advanced heart failure. She collaborates with team members at the Heart Failure Recovery Clinic to provide critically ill patients and their families with quality and compassionate care that achieves positive outcomes.
Sandra earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Florida International University and a master’s degree in nursing at Barry University. She also earned heart failure nursing certification from the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.
During her 20-year career, Sandra has treated and managed patients with cardiology diagnoses such as heart failure, coronary atherosclerosis, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, hyperlipidemia and hypertension. She also served as an active participant and a sub-investigator on several clinical cardiology research trials.
Sandra takes time to educate patients on the importance of following up with their cardiology provider, improving medication adherence, making lifestyle modifications and maintaining an active lifestyle.
During her free time, she enjoys running outdoors, spending quality time with her husband and two sons and watching her sons play soccer and basketball.
