Pooja Patel, M.D., is a board-certified neurologist and the director of the epilepsy monitoring unit at Marcus Neuroscience Institute, a part of Baptist Health. Dr. Patel specializes in treating epilepsy, headaches and all common neurological disorders. She is fluent in English, Gujarati and Hindi.
Dr. Patel is passionate about advancing epilepsy treatment and offers her patients new advancements in diagnostics, medicines, neurostimulation and epilepsy surgery. She is a member of the American Epilepsy Society and the American Academy of Neurology. Visit was very positive as Dr. Patel feel we can try once a yr visits vs 2X yr. W/RX given on my normal schedule, I agreed as long as I am not brought back to medical state of migrine headaches when we started together. My prescriptions were never forwarded to my pharmacy as requested I need to contact my pharmacy walgreens waiting on hold 20 minutes and request for them to fax request to their office which should never have happened as I just had a visit and not requesting refill without a recent visit. Unfortunately things do happen.

Everything went well, was given RX For physical therapy

Dr Patel chastised my request for meloxicam. My prior provider had been prescribing it for me with 90 days refills. Dr Patel said she would send in a prescription for a few meloxicam but never did. She wants to move my emgality to a different (more expensive) medication for maintenance. The call did not disconnect completely and I heard her comments after we "hung up". Dr Patel repeated that I asked for 90 and sounded very irritated by my request. I unfortunately had to change providers because the other provider retired.

Dr. Pooja Patel is an excellent doctor. She is very kind and knowledgeable. She listened very well to my concerns about my cognitive issues and has scheduled a cognitive test for me. I was having trouble communicating to the appropriate people for medication changes and she listens very patiently and let me know that they are working on improving their communication within the office staff. She is very caring and patient and always cares that My concerns are resolved.
