Nathan J Nordmann, MD

Nathan J. Nordmann, M.D., is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. He serves as director of spinal oncology and co-director of spinal radiosurgery, specializing in the treatment of conditions affecting the brain and spine. His clinical expertise includes primary and metastatic spinal tumors, complex spinal pathology and minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Nordmann earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed a neurological surgery residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where he pursued additional specialized training in orthopedic and neurosurgical spine surgery techniques. He further expanded his research experience as a spinal cord injury research fellow at the University of Minnesota before completing a neurosurgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Throughout his training, Dr. Nordmann developed a strong academic interest in neurosurgical oncology, spinal tumors, minimally invasive spine surgery and surgical innovation. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at national neurosurgical meetings. His work has focused on advancing the treatment of brain and spinal tumors, improving minimally invasive surgical techniques and enhancing patient outcomes.

Dr. Nordmann believes every patient deserves an individualized treatment plan developed through a multidisciplinary approach. He understands that a neurosurgical diagnosis can be one of the most challenging experiences a person may face and prioritizes communication, education and shared decision-making throughout the treatment process. By helping patients fully understand their condition and treatment options, he empowers them to make informed decisions with confidence. His goal is to preserve function, relieve pain and help patients return to the activities that matter most while maximizing long-term quality of life.

When he is not caring for patients, Dr. Nordmann enjoys spending time outdoors and staying connected to his Midwestern roots. Growing up in Minnesota, he developed a passion for fishing and deer hunting when time permits. In South Florida, he enjoys exploring the area's vibrant culinary scene, spending time outdoors and experiencing everything the Miami community has to offer with family and friends.
