Michael Todinca, M.D., is a board-certified neurologist specializing in neuromuscular medicine at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, part of Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care. He cares for patients with a wide range of neuromuscular and neurologic conditions, combining advanced diagnostic tools with a thoughtful, patient-centered approach.
Dr. Todinca’s clinical interests include peripheral neuropathies, particularly immune-mediated conditions such as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and Guillain-Barré syndrome, as well as nutritional and metabolic neuropathies, entrapment neuropathies and radiculopathies. He also treats patients with myasthenia gravis, myopathies, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and genetic neuromuscular disorders. As part of his diagnostic approach, he performs electromyography and nerve conduction studies (EMG/NCS) to help better understand each patient’s condition and guide treatment.
He completed a neuromuscular medicine fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center after finishing his neurology residency and internal medicine internship at Stony Brook University Hospital. Dr. Todinca earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and his bachelor’s degree in biology with cum laude distinction from SUNY Geneseo.
Dr. Todinca has contributed to research in neuromuscular disease, including published work on disease progression in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy. He remains engaged in the medical community through professional organizations such as the American Academy of Neurology and regularly attends national and international conferences to stay current with the latest advances in his field.
His approach to care centers on listening closely to each patient and building a collaborative relationship. He takes the time to understand each patient’s symptoms, goals and priorities, working together to create a personalized treatment plan. He also believes in educating patients about their condition so they can better understand their health and take an active role in managing it.
Dr. Todinca is fluent in English and proficient in Spanish. He values clear communication and strives to make every patient feel heard, supported and informed throughout their care journey. In addition to caring for patients, he has a strong interest in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows.
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Todinca enjoys going to the beach and parks, walking his dog, spending time with family, attending music festivals, concerts and comedy shows, and traveling abroad.
