Marie Fernandez, MSN, APRN-BC, is a certified advance practice registered nurse at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. She provides a range of services to help cancer patients in the Institute’s Survivorship Program focus on healing, recovery, wellness and disease prevention.
Ms. Fernandez supports her patients as they manage post-treatment side effects, prevent future cancers through healthy lifestyle behaviors and monitor for cancer’s return. Committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care, she takes time to actively listen to her patients and assess their needs. She partners with them to develop an individualized survivorship plan, set realistic goals and coordinate follow-up appointments that accommodate their schedules.
During her nursing career, which spans more than 35 years, Ms. Fernandez has cared for patients in numerous clinical areas, including oncology, cardiology, internal medicine, hospice care, medical-surgical, orthopedics and neurology.
Ms. Fernandez earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing at the University of Miami. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an advanced practice registered nurse and by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.
Ms. Fernandez is fluent in English and Spanish. During her free time, she enjoys going to the beach, traveling, reading and socializing with her friends.
