Kristina Espinosa, Psy.D.,PMH-C, is an accredited clinical psychologist at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Espinosa specializes in providing evidence-based, integrative and individually tailored psychotherapy that focuses on the biological, social and psychological factors that influence health and wellness. She uses a combination of methods and tools from mindfulness-based psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment theory and trauma-focused therapies. Dr. Espinosa helps patients find meaning through life’s most difficult transitions and hardships, including cancer, chronic illness, grief, pregnancy and infertility, trauma and relationship challenges. Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute in 2021, Dr. Espinosa was a psychologist at Children’s National Hospital.Dr. Espinosa was a first author to describe an evidence-based psychological intervention for prenatal maternal psychological intervention for congenital heart disease. She is a certified provider of perinatal mental health and a member of the American Psychosocial Oncology Society. Dr. Espinosa views therapy as a safe place to explore, observe, find meaning in and heal from the pain that accompanies the human experience. She is honored to walk alongside her patients in their cancer journeys. When she is not treating patients, Dr. Espinosa enjoys yoga, gardening, reading, hiking and spending time with loved ones.
