Kfir Ben-David, MD

Kfir Ben-David, M.D., is a fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in complex minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery and surgical oncology. His clinical practice focuses on the treatment of complex gastrointestinal cancers, including esophageal, gastric and pancreatic cancers, and he has particular expertise in advanced robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Ben-David serves as chair of the Department of Surgery, professor of surgery at Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and program director of the general surgery residency at Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Previously, Dr. Ben-David was a tenured professor of surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He also held the Roni Jacobson Endowed Chair of Surgery and served as program director of the general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida.

Dr. Ben-David earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at University of Cincinnati Medical Center and a fellowship in complex minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery.

An accomplished academic surgeon, Dr. Ben-David has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and invited presentations focused on gastrointestinal oncology, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, complex gastrointestinal surgery and minimally invasive surgery. His work has contributed to advances in the surgical management of gastrointestinal cancers and the development of innovative surgical techniques.

Dr. Ben-David’s philosophy of care is rooted in compassion, honesty and partnership. He strives to ensure patients and their families are informed, engaged and active participants in treatment decisions.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons, traveling, experiencing different cultures, staying active and enjoying the outdoors. He also finds great fulfillment in mentoring young physicians and supporting their professional growth.
