Justin Sporrer, M.D., is a neurosurgeon and co-director of functional neurosurgery at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. He specializes in general neurosurgery, functional neurosurgery, deep brain stimulation and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for movement disorders.
Dr. Sporrer received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, where he received the Barrett Award for Excellence in Humanities, the Department of Physics Award and the Chapman Award in Biology. He received his medical degree from the University of Florida, earning numerous accolades, including the Academic Perfection Award and the AMA Educational Research Foundation Award.
Dr. Sporrer completed an internship and residency in neurological surgery at the University of Florida. During his residency, he received the Charles “Chuck” Shank Award in Neurosurgical Excellence and the Resident Teacher Award. He also served as chief resident. In addition, Dr. Sporrer was a clinical research fellow at the UF Center for Movement Disorders.
He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He has lectured and presented research findings at medical meetings and published in medical journals.

Dr. Sporrer never rushed me to make a decision on surgery, he made sure to ask me questions about how I was feeling and my symptoms before before moving forward with surgery. I was very impressed with Dr. Sporrer and his staff. He spent an extensive amount of time with me explaining all the details so that I would not have any false expectations. In the end, we were convinced that I was in the hands of an excellent healthcare provider. Dr.Sporrer admitted that he had not performed HIFU on a patient with the Inspire Implant.(Inspire is an implanted device to treat sleep apnea).Because he uses a 1.5 tesla MRI, I can successfully have my Essential Tremor treated.

I had to tell my story 3 times. By the time the Dr came in I was pretty upset, as I have been through a lot medically. Dr Sporrer was very dimissive and did not show care or empathy about my situation. I told him where I was hurting and he did not listen and was very dismissive about my complaints. Rushed me through the visit without clear answers. Even shrugged his shoulders like he did not know what was wrong. Told me he makes a lot of money doing surgery and I was only there to determine if I needed surgery or not. He only looked at one level in the mri, did not look lower in neck where my actual pain is as well as pain to shoulders and chest. Made rude/sarcastic comments about me moving to FL. He has not reviewed any medical prior to my visit, nor had the PA arguing that "this was all they gave me" I said there are more records in the computer. Dr Sporrer then asked for the nerve conduction study and then did not review with me. There are findings and neither PA nor Dr addressed.
