Jorge Alejandro Bilbao, DO

Jorge Bilbao, D.O., is a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute whose clinical interests include musculoskeletal medicine, inpatient rehabilitation and electrodiagnostic medicine. He partners with patients to help them regain function, improve mobility and return to the activities they enjoy most through individualized rehabilitation plans tailored to their goals.

Dr. Bilbao is passionate about caring for patients across the full continuum of rehabilitation. As a general physiatrist, he treats patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, allowing him to support them through every stage of recovery. He values the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients and their families while helping them navigate complex medical and rehabilitation challenges.

His clinical interests include acute inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient musculoskeletal medicine, ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections and electrodiagnostic studies. He develops individualized treatment plans that emphasize conservative care and minimally invasive interventions, when appropriate. His goal is to help patients maximize function, reduce pain and improve their quality of life.

Dr. Bilbao earned a Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences from the University of Chicago before receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, Florida.

Throughout his training, Dr. Bilbao has remained actively involved in research, education and community service. He has authored and coauthored peer-reviewed publications and presented research at national and regional meetings. His scholarly work has focused on rehabilitation medicine, neurological disorders and patient care outcomes. He also has served as a medical Spanish tutor for medical students and resident physicians and volunteered as a Spanish interpreter in community healthcare clinics, helping improve access to care for Spanish-speaking patients.

Dr. Bilbao believes continuity of care is one of the most important aspects of rehabilitation medicine. He is committed to partnering with patients throughout their recovery journeys and empowering them to take an active role in their care. Through shared decision-making, compassionate communication and evidence-based treatment, he strives to help each patient achieve meaningful and lasting improvements in health and function.

Dr. Bilbao is fluent in English and Spanish. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors, going to the beach, exercising, playing soccer, cooking, traveling and making memories with family and friends.
