Gregory M. Richards, M.D., is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. He treats adult malignancies, with specific interest in prostate and lung cancer, and utilizes radiation therapy in oncologic palliative care.
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Richards was a radiation oncologist at Mercyhealth in Rockford, Illinois.
Dr. Richards earned his medical degree at New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey and completed his transitional year internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. He spent two years as a radiation oncology research assistant at the University of Wisconsin, Carbone Cancer Center in Madison, Wisconsin and St. Vincent’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York City. He also completed a radiation oncology residency at the University of Wisconsin, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Richards contributes to the scientific community as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
To help his patients gain a deeper understanding of the treatment process and reduce their anxiety and fear, Dr. Richards spends time with them to thoroughly discuss their medical history, cancer diagnosis, treatment options and the role of radiation therapy in their comprehensive care plan. He educates his patients on therapeutic radiation, expected outcomes and how potential side effects are minimized and treated. He partners with the multidisciplinary cancer care to take outstanding care of patients and manage their disease.
During his free time, Dr. Richards enjoys spending time with his family and friends and sharing great meals, exercising and reading about history.
