About George Roman Tershakovec, MD
George R. Tershakovec, M.D., FACS, is a general surgeon and a member of Baptist Health Medical Group, an organization of more than 180 physicians in multiple specialties closely aligned with Baptist Health South Florida.
He is president-elect of the 300 physicians on the Homestead Hospital medical staff and has served in many other Baptist Health leadership roles, including president and vice president of the medical staffs of South Miami Hospital and Baptist Hospital, respectively. Dr. Tershakovec is Board-certified in general surgery and has practiced surgery in South Florida for more than 25 years. In addition to performing general, oncologic and laparoscopic procedures, his surgical interests include thyroid and parathyroid surgery using minimally invasive techniques and breast health and breast cancers. Dr. Tershakovec received his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 1980 and completed his residency at hospitals affiliated with the school. He has served on many Baptist Health committees and is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American College of Surgeons. His community affiliations include the Kiwanis Club of Homestead/South Dade.
