Enrique Diaz, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute, part of Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care. He specializes in adult and geriatric psychiatry and has nearly two decades of experience caring for patients with a wide range of mental health conditions.
Dr. Diaz is board-certified in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Diaz treats mood disorders, anxiety disorders and treatment-resistant conditions. He is particularly interested in optimizing evidence-based care, including thoughtful medication management and neuromodulation strategies when appropriate. His clinical background spans inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, emergency and crisis care, substance use treatment and telepsychiatry.
Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree from Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas de La Habana in Cuba. He completed his residency in general psychiatry at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital and went on to complete a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the same institution, where he served as chief fellow. His research has included work focused on Alzheimer’s disease and agitation, contributing to improved care for older adults with neuropsychiatric conditions.
Throughout his career, Dr. Diaz has been committed to serving minority and underserved communities. He previously served as medical director and attending psychiatrist for a homeless outreach program affiliated with Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he collaborated closely with interdisciplinary teams to expand access to mental healthcare and support individuals facing significant social and medical challenges.
His approach to care is collaborative and individualized. Dr. Diaz believes in partnering with patients to understand their goals, preferences and life context before developing a treatment plan. He strives to provide compassionate, stigma-free care that empowers patients to take an active role in their mental health journey.

In his free time, Dr. Diaz enjoys cultivating bonsai, playing tennis and traveling. He appreciates activities that require patience and focus, as well as experiences that allow him to explore new cultures and perspectives.
