Claudette Barreto Lopez, MD

Claudette Barreto Lopez, M.D., is a family medicine physician at Baptist Health Primary Care. She provides comprehensive primary care with an emphasis on preventive medicine, health maintenance and helping patients optimize their long-term health through evidence-based care. Her clinical interests include women’s health, nutrition and lifestyle medicine.

Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Barreto Lopez completed her family medicine residency with the Florida International University–Baptist Health Family Medicine Residency, where she also served as wellness chief.

Dr. Barreto Lopez earned her medical degree from Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency with the Florida International University–Baptist Health Family Medicine Residency. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Florida Academy of Family Physicians, American Geriatrics Society, National Alliance on Mental Illness and Society of Teachers of Family Medicine.

Dr. Barreto Lopez believes in providing personalized, patient-centered care that considers the whole person rather than focusing solely on a condition or diagnosis. She strives to build lasting relationships with patients and their families, using open communication and shared decision-making to empower patients to take an active role in their health.

She is fluent in English and Spanish.

When she is not treating patients, Dr. Barreto Lopez enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures through food, spending time with family and friends and staying active through Pilates.
