About Charles N Trujillo, MD
Charles Nathan Trujillo, M.D., is a general surgeon and critical care intensivist at Baptist Hospital of South Florida.
Dr. Trujillo is a South Florida native who attended Florida International University, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Dr. Trujillo obtained his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his general surgery training at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center/Kaiser-Permanente in Southern California, a high-volume trauma, regional burn center and specialized surgical tertiary care hospital. Following his residency, Dr. Trujillo completed his fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. Dr Trujillo currently serves as the Medical Director of Surgical Intensive Care and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Dr. Trujillo is certified by the American Board of Surgery as a General Surgeon and as a Surgical Critical Care Intensivist. Dr. Trujillo focuses on treating patients suffering from various forms of organ failure and profound shock. He possesses extensive training and experience in dealing with high acuity, life-threatening, surgical emergencies and has a strong background in trauma surgery but also performs a multitude of routine general surgical procedures.
Dr. Trujillo has published numerous peer-reviewed publications, has served as a reviewer for medical journals and is certified in critical care ultrasound by the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Trujillo is involved in numerous medical organizations, including the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma (EAST), the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Latino Surgical Society, the American Medical Association and the Latino Medical Student Association.
