About Amalia Mercedes Landa-Galindez, MD
Amalia Landa-Galindez, M.D., is a board-certified internal medicine physician at Baptist Health Primary Care | FIU. She provides comprehensive primary care and has a particular interest in cardiovascular disease, including lipid and coronary calcification screening and lifestyle modifications; musculoskeletal disorders, such as osteoporosis, gout and inflammatory/autoimmune disorders; nutrition and diet counseling; and women’s health.
Committed to training the next generation of physicians, Dr. Landa-Galindez serves as chair, clerkship director and associate professor of internal medicine at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. She participates in recruiting faculty, arranging internal medicine clerkship sites and organizing student educational activities. She leads the development and assessment of internal medicine curriculum, serves as faculty advisor for students pursuing an internal medicine residency, contributes to developing graduate internal medicine residency programs and serves on numerous university committees.
Dr. Landa-Galindez has presented her research at medical symposiums and published her findings in peer-reviewed journals. She also contributes to the scientific community as a fellow of the Florida Chapter of the American College of Physicians and member and committee member of numerous professional organizations.
Dr. Landa-Galindez earned her medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed an internal medicine internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and an internal medicine residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
For more than three decades, Dr. Landa-Galindez has provided the highest levels of professional and personalized patient care to generations of family members. She treats each patient with the same level of compassionate care she would treat her own family member.
Dr. Landa-Galindez is fluent in English and Spanish. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, swimming, hiking and going to the theatre and concerts.
