About Alvaro Ignacio Martinez, MD
Alvaro I. Martinez, Jr., M.D., FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, part of Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care. He has more than 25 years of experience in patient care and the effective management of cardiovascular conditions. To this end, he focuses on the prevention of heart disease by prioritizing risk factor modifications such as cholesterol management, blood pressure control and healthy diet and exercise. He is certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Martinez practiced at Personalized Medicine Institute | Cordicare in Davie, Fla.
Dr. Martinez earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and a cardiology fellowship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He contributes to the medical community as a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and member of the American Heart Association.
Committed to providing compassionate, personalized care, Dr. Martinez takes time to listen to his patients, learn about their health history and goals, educate them about their condition and answer their questions. He also encourages joy and laughter because he believes that laughter can help heal the heart.
Dr. Martinez is fluent in English and Spanish. Outside of practicing medicine, he spends quality time with his wife and family and enjoys traveling, archery, printing and painting 3D models, and watching Star Wars and Star Trek.
