Alex Powell, MD

Alex Powell, M.D., is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist with subspecialty training in vascular interventional radiology with Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. He specializes in interventional radiology with a focus on minimally invasive, image-guided treatments for complex vascular conditions, including peripheral arterial disease, aneurysms and venous thromboembolism.

Dr. Powell earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he also served as chief resident. He went on to complete fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of California San Diego and additional advanced training at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute.

With decades of experience in interventional radiology, Dr. Powell has been a leader in the development and application of endovascular therapies for arterial and venous disease. His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive treatments for peripheral arterial disease, venous disease and complex vascular conditions. He is known for his collaborative approach, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Powell has been actively involved in physician leadership, education and research. He has held numerous leadership roles within Baptist Health and has contributed extensively to peer-reviewed medical literature. He is frequently invited to present at national and international medical conferences.

Dr. Powell’s patient care philosophy emphasizes thoughtful evaluation, clear communication and the use of the least invasive treatment options whenever possible to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes. He takes time to listen to his patients, understand their symptoms and concerns, explain their condition and treatment options in clear terms and work closely with them and the care team to develop an individualized treatment plan.
