Abilio Armando Coello, MD

Abilio A. Coello, M.D., FACS, RPVI, is a board-certified general surgeon at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute who has four decades of vascular surgery experience. His clinical interests include stroke prevention and limb salvage surgery. He has expertise in endoscopic vascular surgery for venous ulcers of the lower extremities and has educated other surgeons, lectured nationally and internationally and published on this subject.

Dr. Coello’s proficiency in noninvasive vascular testing has led him to directorships, the latest at Baptist Health West Kendall Baptist Hospital. He has also participated in the structural reading committee for Baptist Health.

After earning his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Coello served as chief resident during his general and vascular surgery residency in the university’s Department of Surgery.

Dr. Coello is certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the Alliance for Physician Certification and Advancement as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery. 

Committed to improving patient outcomes, Dr. Coello utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with vascular disease. He takes time to listen to his patients, educate them and answer questions related to their treatment plan.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Coello enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include woodworking, photography and gardening. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
