Under a bright blue sky in Miami Beach, Baptist Health South Florida broke ground on a new multi-specialty facility at 709 Alton Road in South Beach. In addition to offering urgent care services, the 63,500-square-foot building will house a wellness center for community education and exercise, private physician offices, and a diagnostic and imaging center.
“Our focus point is not on illness, but on wellness and prevention, primary care services and chronic disease management,” Brian E. Keeley, president and CEO of Baptist Health South Florida, told the audience of about 100 Miami Beach community leaders, business owners and residents.
The groundbreaking ceremony followed a nearly two-year community push to open a Baptist Health urgent care facility on Miami Beach.
“This is a long time in coming. Thank you very much Baptist Health South Florida,” said Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine as he congratulated those affiliated with the project, including developers Marisa Galbut and Russell Galbut from Crescent Heights.
“Today, during the festival of Hanukkah, we gather to dedicate this ground and place to a higher purpose,” said Rabbi David Albert, a senior staff chaplain at Baptist Health for 13 years. “May this medical facility be a place where those who are ill, injured or broken find kindness, compassion and healing.”
