Baptist Health Orthopedic Care
A new era in orthopedic and sports medicine care launched in South Florida with the inauguration of Baptist Health’s brand new, state-of-the-art orthopedic complex on the grounds of the Miami Dolphins training facility, the Baptist Health Training Complex.
Open to anyone seeking orthopedic care, the modern 17,000-square-foot complex allows community members to “go where the pros go” when it comes to treatment for orthopedic conditions and injuries. Baptist Health is the sports medicine provider for the Miami Dolphins, Miami HEAT, Florida Panthers, InterMiami CF and other organizations and events.

“Professional sports represent the highest level of human performance,” says orthopedic surgeon Gautam Yagnik, M.D., a team physician for the Miami Dolphins and Florida Panthers. “We take all the knowledge that we gain from caring for these athletes and apply it to all our patients. I think our patients take comfort in knowing that they're getting that same high-quality care that the pros get.”
Located across the street from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, the two-story center features the latest in medical technology and advancements. It offers a full range of comprehensive orthopedic services, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, and rehabilitation by seasoned Baptist Health Orthopedic Care experts.
“Our services are not limited to elite competitors; everyone in South Florida has access to the same exceptional standard of care,” says orthopedic surgeon John Uribe, M.D., chief medical executive of Baptist Health Orthopedic Care and a team physician for both the Miami Dolphins and Florida Panthers. “Our success in maintaining their ability to do their job and perform in their sport is a testament to what we can do in sports medicine and orthopedics. It demonstrates the excellence of care patients can expect.”
The new medical facility has been in the works since the Baptist Health Training Complex for the Dolphins was established adjacent to the stadium two years ago.
“Opening this spectacular facility is really a celebration of Baptist Health’s commitment to the community and our longstanding partnership with the Miami Dolphins,” says Bo Boulenger, president and CEO of Baptist Health. “It’s a great example of what’s possible when our two organizations join forces with a common purpose — providing high-quality care for our community.”
Patients will benefit from easier access, especially for those coming from the north, Mr. Boulenger says. “This site is really unique because it is on the Broward and Miami-Dade County line, right by all the major highways. It will expand our reach and make things much more convenient for consumers.”
An avid Miami Dolphins fan, Mr. Boulenger also noted something else exceptional about the location: “It's so cool to be here on the Miami Dolphins home turf, overlooking the practice field while you get your therapy.”
Primary care sports medicine physicians Michael Swartzon, M.D., also a Miami Dolphins team physician, is excited about the depth of care that will be available at the new location. “We’re going to have the entire complement of experts for all the subspecialties,” he explains. Efficiency will be maximized by on-site imaging that includes digital X-rays, 3D MRI and thin-cut CT.
“There’s also a rehabilitation and physical therapy area with all the latest technologies, equipment and the best therapists — again, designed to mirror what the athletes are getting,” Dr. Swartzon says.
At the facility’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, Tom Garfinkel, Miami Dolphins president and CEO, noted the long-standing partnership between the team and Baptist Health.
“Just as our Dolphins training facility is purpose-built for our players, this orthopedic complex is designed and purpose-built to provide the best possible medical care to Baptist Health patients,” he said. “It will be a tremendous asset to the team, and we couldn’t be happier to again partner with Baptist Health in helping the South Florida community.”
The orthopedic complex is located at 19955 NW 27 Ave. in Miami Gardens. The entrance can be found at Gate 11, located on NW 27th Avenue between 199th Street and 203rd Street. To make an appointment, please call 786-595-1300 or visit BaptistHealth.net/OrthoComplex for more information.
