Miami: Tops in Employee Engagement, Hosts Global Leadership Summit

Looking for a portrait of engaged employees? If you’re from Miami, give yourself and your co-workers a round of applause. That’s the word from Forbes magazine, which recently named Miami as one of the top cities in the U.S. for employee engagement.

Miami’s ranked #2 in the nation for employee engagement, second by just a small margin to Huntsville, Alabama. The study results are making headlines just as Miami prepares to serve as a regional host of the Global Leadership Summit, August 14-15—an international event with presentations  from filmmaker Tyler Perry, GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt, Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, among others.

The global live event is sponsored by the Willow Creek  Community Church and broadcast from Illinois to different regional hubs, including the Christ Journey Church in Coral Gables on 624 Anastasia Avenue. In Miami, the event includes live p resentations from Brian E. Keeley, president and CEO of Baptist Health South Florida, and D. Wayne Brackin, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Baptist Health.  Mr. Keeley and Mr. Brackin will talk about the importance of leadership, the workplace and the community.

“At work, people value being a part of a larger community, especially if they consider that their work is meaningful and has a positive social impact,” says Rev. Guillermo Escalona, director of Pastoral Education at Baptist Health.  “Ultimately, we grow greater and live happier, more meaningful lives in proportion to our connection to the larger social life that surrounds us at home and at work.”
