Oh baby. You’ve carried extra weight, felt moving and kicking and maybe spent a few sleepless nights during the last nine months while pregnant. Now it’s time for the baby to come. But how will you know when you’re in labor?
(VIDEO: Darren Salinger, M.D., an obstetrician and gynecologist at Homestead Hospital, explains the signs and symptoms of labor in pregnant women. Video by George Carvalho)
“The process of going into labor during the last few weeks of pregnancy is usually gradual,” says Darren Salinger, M.D., an obstetrician and gynecologist at Homestead Hospital. “Most commonly, some cramping will begin and happen every couple of hours, then a couple times an hour until suddenly contractions are felt every five minutes, with pain described by many as taking your breath away.”
The Baptist Health News Team asked Dr. Salinger about other signs that signal the time to deliver baby is near. In the video, he describes labor symptoms that pregnant women should be aware of. Watch it now.
