Miami HEAT team physician, Harlan Selesnick, M.D. and the team at Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute have been busy making sure players are at their top physical condition for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
The rigors of an 82-game season take a toll on the players’ bodies, and for the last 29 years it has been Dr. Selesnick’s job to keep the HEAT healthy… and happy.
“In fact, in the 29 years we’ve been doing it, there has not been one player who has left Miami for their medical care,” said Dr. Selesnick.
During the offseason, Dr. Selesnick works with the players to help identify any deficiencies they may have and works with trainers and strength and conditioning coaches to help get them back in playing shape. As part of the pre-season physicals, every player receives an MRI scan to identify any new or lingering injuries. Fortunately for the Miami HEAT, all of the players have had their physicals and are ready to go.
Dr. Selesnick said he is excited about the upcoming season. “We have a lot of young talent, guys will hopefully come together… and there will be an exciting product on the court.”
