Baptist Health Expands Cardiac Care in Doral
2 min. read
In keeping with its mission of making quality healthcare easily accessible, Baptist Health has expanded its presence in Doral with a new office and additional staff from Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute.
“Getting high-quality care from dedicated healthcare providers in your community is so important,” says cardiologist Patrick Azcarate, M.D., who recently joined the Doral team. “These days, people have busy lives and certainly don’t want to deal with traffic. Having a doctor in your own neighborhood can make things a bit easier.”
Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute is nationally recognized for its wide range of multidisciplinary experts, leading edge technology and innovation. It is the largest, most comprehensive cardiac facility in the region, with an emphasis on groundbreaking care as well as prevention.
“In our Doral cardiology clinic, you will have the opportunity to meet with one of your clinical cardiologists who offer high-quality, evidence-based care, and also have access to our entire team of cardiovascular specialists such as electrophysiologists, interventional cardiologists and experts in treating advanced heart failure,” Dr. Azcarate says.
The expansion in Doral ensures a high level of cardiac care for diagnostics, treatment and advice to lead patients to their best health and well-being.
“The programs we’re building, are designed to help people with their continuum of care,” says Jonathan Fialkow, M.D., deputy director of the Institute, chief of cardiology and co-medical director of the lipid management program. “At a true cardiovascular institute, it’s not just about the procedures we can do — it’s also about how we help people in managing medical conditions. We want to be there for you throughout your life and help guide you.”
Baptist Health has a long history of supporting Doral, having established roots there for three decades. Since then, the organization has grown to include an Urgent Care facility in the heart of Downtown Doral, as well as the sprawling new Baptist Health Hospital Doral, which just opened its doors this past fall.
Dr. Azcarate, who completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of California San Diego, is joining cardiologists Paula Montana de la Cadena, M.D., and Dr. Robert Grana, M.D., who already have growing practices in the area. In Doral, the team will see patients at 9915 NW 41st St., Suite 200.
“We’re honored to welcome Dr. Azcarate to our cardiologist team and South Florida,” Dr. Fialkow said. “Our Doral patients will appreciate and benefit from his service-oriented outlook, extensive training and innovative talent.”
Dr. Azcarate participated in clinical research on heart failure and cardiac sarcoidosis in addition to writing book chapters and presenting at conferences. He is board certified in echocardiography and nuclear imaging. Recently, he shared his interest in cardio-oncology as a guest speaker on a cardiology podcast where he discussed radiation-associated cardiac disease.
Fluent in English and Spanish, he looks forward to building long-term relationships with patients in the new Doral clinic, which is close to homes, schools and businesses.
“We are committed to making the City of Doral even healthier,” Dr. Azcarate says. “We are happy to join the community and look forward to partnering with patients to help improve their cardiovascular health.”
