Baptist Health Foundation today announced the largest single philanthropic gift in the 66-year history of Baptist Health South Florida: a $100 million donation from internationally recognized optometric physician, inventor, entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr. Herbert (“Herbie”) Wertheim, who views the gift as a continuation of his commitment to public service. By focusing exclusively on this partnership and prioritizing this investment, he aims to create a scalable model for increasing healthcare access and innovation across America.

Baptist Health Foundation announced today that it has received a $1 million gift from the Jim & Jane Slattery Fund at Ocean Reef Community Foundation to benefit the Baptist Health Homestead Hospital Clinical Expansion Fund. The gift will help support the construction of a new four-story, 134,000-square-foot tower at Baptist Health Homestead Hospital in Homestead, Florida.

Baptist Health Foundation announced today that it has received a $2 million donation from Leila and Slaven Zivkovic benefiting the upcoming Al and Jane Nahmad Women’s Cancer Center at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health Cancer Care. This gift will help support cancer research and clinical trials at the new Center, located on the Miami campus of Baptist Health Baptist Hospital.

Nearly 200 guests attended An Evening of Gratitude benefiting Baptist Health Fishermen’s Community Hospital, which was held on April 10, 2026 at Oceanfront Park in Marathon, Florida. The event raised over $324,000 as the Foundation honored its Giving Society members and other donors to Fishermen’s Community Hospital.

More than 2,000 people, including 167 teams, participated in Bounce Back from CancerTM, a partnership between Baptist Health Foundation and the Miami HEAT, on Saturday, March 14. The annual event raised over $7 million for research at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health Cancer Care.
