Miami Cancer Institute Launches Global Bladder Cancer Consortium, Led by Chief of Urologic Oncology Surgery

MIAMI, FL – August 9, 2022 – Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health South Florida, has spearheaded the creation of the Global Bladder Cancer Consortium (GBCC), an international collaboration between the world’s top experts in bladder cancer, led by Murugesan Manoharan, M.D., leader of the GBCC and chief of urologic oncologic surgery at Miami Cancer Institute. Among the GBCC’s priorities are creating a large and diverse patient database, launching clinical trials at multiple sites throughout the world and sharing information ― all initiatives that will impact patient outcomes and improve care for those with bladder cancer.

MIAMI, FL – July 28, 2022 – Baptist Health Foundation announced that IVFMD, a fertility medicine practice founded by Juergen Eisermann, M.D., has made a $1 million gift to Baptist Health Foundation in support of South Miami Hospital, part of Baptist Health. The gift will help fund several programs at the hospital, primarily supporting women, infants and children.

Baptist Health Foundation Receives $2 Million Gift from Trish and Dan Bell to Benefit Miami Cancer Institute

MIAMI, FL – June 29, 2022 – Baptist Health Foundation announced today that prominent Miami philanthropists Trish and Dan Bell have made a $2 million gift to Baptist Health Foundation in support of the Cancer Health Equity Research Center (CHERC) at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. The gift will assist the CHERC in increasing the enrollment of medically underserved populations in clinical cancer trials in order to address disparities in health outcomes among minority groups.

MIAMI, FL – June 15, 2022 – Baptist Health Foundation announced today that The Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation has provided a $2 million gift to establish an endowed chair to honor and support the work of Bernardo “Bernie” Fernandez, M.D., CEO of Baptist Health Medical Group.  The Foundation’s gift is its second $2 million donation benefiting Baptist Health Medical Group.
