Baptist Health accepts requests from fourth-year medical students (MS4) seeking to participate in elective rotations. We host MS4 elective rotations for students from LCME- and COCA-accredited medical schools.

Elective Rotations with departments that do not have a GME training program

Students requesting an elective rotation in a Baptist Health department that does not currently host a GME training program must complete the Baptist Health elective request process outlined below:

  1. Contact your prospective preceptor to obtain approval for the elective experience.
  2. Submit and complete the Baptist Health Learner Elective Rotation Request Form.
  3. If approved, complete all required credentialing and clearance documentation prior to the start of the rotation.
  4. Students may not begin the rotation until an official approval email is received from Baptist Health. This email will include information regarding badge access and IT access, as applicable.
Elective Rotations with departments that include a GME training program (FIU/FAU)

Students requesting an elective rotation at Baptist Health within a department that currently hosts a GME training program (with FIU/FAU) must apply through the respective university's Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) platform:

  1. Visit the VSLO website to view available elective rotations

  2. If approved, complete all required credentialing and clearance documentation prior to the start of the rotation.
  3. Students may not begin the rotation until an official approval email is received from Baptist Health. This email will include information regarding badge access and IT access, as applicable.
Third-Year Medical Student Clerkships (MS3)

Third-year clerkship rotations (MS3) are offered exclusively to students from our partner medical schools:

  • Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (Miami-Dade County)
  • Florida Atlantic University Schmidt College of Medicine (Palm Beach County)

Due to capacity constraints, priority for fourth-year elective rotations (MS4) is also given to students from these partner institutions.

  • 4th year student in an LCME or COCA-accredited Medical Education Partner school
  • Current background check and immunizations as attested by school

  • Complete the Medical Student Rotation Request form (below)

Acceptance and admission to the program is contingent on submission of all requested materials and meeting all eligibility requirements as determined by the program.
