The Pharmacy Postgraduate Year One (PGY-1) Residency at Baptist Health Bethesda Hospital is designed to provide post-doctoral residents with an enriching educational experience. Our dual-campus facility of Bethesda Hospital East & Bethesda Hospital West together comprises 480 beds. Located in the beautiful South Florida setting just minutes from the beach, Bethesda Hospital meets both the personal and professional needs of our residents. Our core, elective, and longitudinal experiences offer diverse and comprehensive learning opportunities to ensure that residents are trained in the core competencies that enable attainment of board certification in pharmacotherapy upon graduation. Furthermore, the program provides a solid foundation for residents pursuing PGY-2 specialty residency training or for those pursuing clinical roles post-graduation.

Bethesda Hospital East
Since 1959, Bethesda Hospital East has provided quality health services with care and dedication. The 401-bed, fully accredited, not-for-profit hospital and affiliates offer a full array of healthcare services, including an advanced primary stroke center, cancer care, cardiovascular care, diagnostic imaging, and emergency care. The hospital’s Emergency Department, which serves both adults and children, treats nearly 80,000 patients annually. Bethesda’s highly skilled physicians perform more than 4,600 inpatients surgeries and 5,500 outpatient surgeries each year.
Bethesda Hospital West
Since 2013, Bethesda Hospital West has proudly served the medical needs of Palm Beach County. The 80-bed, all private room, state-of-the-art, community hospital provides medical services including cardiopulmonary services, diagnostic imaging, emergency services, including for children, endoscopy suites, inpatient medical services, critical care, physical rehabilitation, and surgical services. Bethesda is recognized as a top performer demonstrating high standards of clinical performance and improvement for quality and safety measures.
Eligibility Requirements and Application Schedule
Program Eligibility
- Must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must obtain a Florida pharmacist’s license by August 31st of the residency year
Application Requirements
Prospective residents are required to submit the following:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Official transcripts from all colleges of pharmacy attended
- Three letters of recommendation from professional references utilizing standard form required by PhORCAS™
- Personal statement of intent
