The Baptist Health Cancer Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is a comprehensive, one-year training program designed to prepare Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants for specialized, high-level practice in hematology and oncology. Training at the Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Institute within a multidisciplinary care model, fellows work alongside experienced APPs and physician specialists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The curriculum provides a balanced combination of structured clinical experience, rigorous didactic education, and scholarly activity. By offering exposure to advanced therapies, evolving treatment protocols, and highly complex patient populations, the program fosters the development of strong clinical judgment, technical expertise, and progressive autonomy.

To accommodate specialized career paths, the fellowship offers two distinct, focused tracks: the Malignant Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) track and the Classical Hematology track. Regardless of the chosen pathway, fellows complete structured rotations aligned with their specialty to master the diagnosis and management of a wide range of hematologic and oncologic conditions. In addition to intensive clinical training, participants engage in academic and professional development activities, including research projects, quality improvement initiatives, case presentations, and national conferences. These experiences foster a deep culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice, preparing graduates to contribute meaningfully to clinical innovation, education, and collaborative leadership within the field of cancer care.
