Baptist Health Cancer Care APP Fellowship

The Malignant Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) track is the first program nationally certified with Distinction in its specialty, equipping fellows to manage hematologic malignancies and the intricacies of cellular therapies. Training alongside expert APPs and physician-scientists, fellows immerse themselves in a rigorous clinical and research curriculum. Immersive rotations provide hands-on experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of disorders, including leukemias, lymphomas, and multiple myeloma, while providing deep exposure to cutting-edge advancements like CAR-T cell therapy and stem cell transplantation. The track emphasizes scholarly productivity, requiring fellows to conduct research projects, present at national conferences, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications, ultimately preparing them to become influential practitioners and educators in the field.

The Classical Hematology track provides comprehensive training in the evaluation and management of non-malignant blood disorders, including anemia, hemoglobinopathies, coagulation disorders, platelet abnormalities, and bone marrow failure syndromes. Fellows build strong diagnostic reasoning skills across inpatient and outpatient settings, focusing on consultative services, longitudinal disease management, and cross-specialty care coordination. The structured curriculum integrates case-based learning with hands-on procedural training, ensuring competency in peripheral smear interpretation and bone marrow biopsy and aspiration. To cultivate well-rounded clinical leaders, the program incorporates quality improvement initiatives, interdisciplinary conferences, and case presentations, preparing graduates to function as confident, independent hematology APPs in diverse clinical environments.

Upon completion of the program, fellows are prepared to function as confident and competent hematology APPs, capable of managing complex hematologic conditions and contributing meaningfully to collaborative care teams across diverse clinical settings.
