Carlos E. Hernandez is Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Hospital and executive leader for Baptist Health Orthopedic Care. In this role, he oversees the hospital’s strategic direction and operations while helping strengthen Baptist Health’s relationships with South Florida’s professional and collegiate sports teams and organizations.
Before being named CEO, Mr. Hernandez served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Doctors Hospital and West Kendall Baptist Hospital, where he helped lead performance across financial stewardship, quality and safety, patient experience, employee engagement and service-line growth. He also previously supported strategic planning and market development for Baptist Health, helping direct major system initiatives, facility planning and growth efforts, including the expansion of key clinical services.
Mr. Hernandez is active in civic and community leadership. He is the current president of the Belen Jesuit Alumni Association, and his service has also included roles with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami and the Florida Keys, the City of Coral Gables and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Science in Management, with a major in finance, from Tulane University in New Orleans.
