Our Diabetes Care Centers - located at South Miami, Baptist, Homestead and Mariners Hospitals - offer South Florida's most comprehensive programs to help people with diabetes keep the condition under control, while leading active lives.
South Miami Hospital's Diabetes Care Center provides free blood sugar screenings by appointment. It also offers -- with a doctor's prescription -- diabetes self-management education with a nurse and a nutritionist, as well as support counseling. It also offers exercise specialists; eating disorder counseling; expertise in external insulin pump therapy; and Board-certified physicians and medical specialists to assist with related problems involving the eyes, kidneys and heart. The programs at South Miami and Baptist Hospitals are recognized by the American Diabetes Association. For chronic or non-healing wounds related to diabetes, the Wound Center at South Miami Hospital offers up-to-date treatments by physicians and nurses who are experts in wound care. The Wound Center's Foot Clinic is staffed by doctors and nurses specializing in the treatment of chronic or non-healing wounds of the foot.
