The scope of Family Medicine encompasses all ages, sexes, organ systems,
and disease entities. Family physicians are exceptional in preventive
care, working with nonspecific complaints, management of chronic
illnesses, and in integrating psychosocial issues into care.
At
the new West Kendall Baptist Hospital Family Medicine Residency, we
build on the programs of excellence at Baptist Health South Florida and
the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
With four residents per year, the residency program offers an individualized approach –
preparing clinically skilled physicians who work effectively as part of
larger healthcare systems. Residents will receive training in quality
assessment and improvement, research and public policy, while developing
leadership and team-building skills through collaboration on
interprofessional teams and community engagement. We provide a high-tech
and high-touch, patient- and family-centered environment coupled with
unsurpassed excellence in quality of care measures and patient
satisfaction scores. As the first residency program at West Kendall
Baptist Hospital, we are uniquely positioned to provide a rich and
personalized residency learning experience.
Our vision is to
offer the preeminent family medicine residency program in South Florida,
attracting, training and retaining highly skilled physicians to serve
the South Florida community.
